The Narrator's Workshop - Classes

Breakdown of Sessions:

• Session #1: Focus on the Narration. Finding your “storyteller’s voice,” the key to becoming an exceptional audio book narrator. Also a state-of-the-industry “Nuts & bolts” overview, including: employment opportunity; creating a demo; fees; the home studio; marketing.

• Session #2: Fiction: (first person). Review and rehearse this distinct narrator voice.

• Session #3: Fiction (third person). Review and rehearse this distinct narrator voice.

• Session #4: Dialogue. Review and rehearse, including: playing the opposite gender (and related challenges: age, accents, etc.), keeping dialogue dynamic in an intimate medium.

• Session #5: Non-fiction (first and third person). Review and rehearse this distinct narrator voice. Children’s. Review and rehearse techniques applicable to children’s narration.

• Session #6: Final Performance. Participants will narrate one or two brief selection(s) with engineer under Paul’s direction, followed by brief analysis of each performance. Though not guaranteed, every effort will be made to have an industry professional (agent or publisher) attend at least one session.

Fee: $625 for 6, two-hour workshop sessions
